Severn Project – Joshua Trust is working with The Severn Project which offers employment, training and education to young people who have become socially excluded. We are setting up supported housing to run alongside the horticultural enterprise. Horticulture was the first objective of the Trust.

The ski dome in Weston super mare has been given planning permission. The trustees await developments but are still confident that a major tourist attraction on Hengrove Park is both viable and feasible and will bring about hope to many young unemployed people in South Bristol as well as being a fantastic facility for local people to enjoy.

After the Joshua trust meeting, it was decided to acknowledge the lesiure dome proposal but to leave our project as it is and wait.

The Trust response is ” This proposal in Weston super Mare confirms the need for a major tourist attraction in the Bristol area. Hengrove Park still has potential to provide a tourist attraction and we watch this development with interest.”

This site is ideal for movie studios

IT might make you smile at first but behind the Hollywood Hengrove sign there is serious intent. And that is the prospect for developing film making, creating new jobs and putting Bristol on the map. Obviously, it is early days. At present the former Harveys complex, as most of us know it, will be just the temporary home to BBC‘s Casualty before we lose it to Wales.

Bristol was the only UK city shortlisted

Bristol was the only UK city shortlisted to become Europe‘s designated Green Capital for both 2010 and 2011.

Work is now under way to ensure a strong bid can be submitted for future European Green Capital awards. Bristol City Council has adopted its own Green Capital Action Plan, and the Green Capital Partnership is currently advertising for a manager to help in the aim of making Bristol ‘the most carbon efficient city in the UK, to exploit the opportunities for business innovation and improve the quality of life for everyone in the city’.

Bristol airport £150m expansion plans given the go-ahead

BRISTOL Airport’s £150 million expansion plans have been given the green light after the Government opted not to intervene in the planning process. Although North Somerset Council approved the expansion scheme, subject to 70 conditions, at a meeting in May Communities Secretary Eric Pickles had the right to a final say on the development, as some of the site is in green belt land.

hospital wait is over at last.

The £45m hospital construction will start in a few weeks following final Dept of Health approval in November 2009 and exchange of contracts on friday 12th Feb. The hosptial will be open in 2012. This is the final part of Hengrove Park phase 1 which includes Skills Academy and leisure centre.
